I have been a fan of Ms. Hunt’s work since 1996 when I was 10 years old.
Since seeing Twister that summer, I have seen 24 of her film performances and dozens of her telefilm performances, from her first work in Pioneer Woman to Empire Falls. Favorite performances that have connected with me include her work as Carol Connelly in As Good as It Gets, Arlene McKinney in Pay It Forward, Samantha Stevens in Bobby, Mrs. Erlynne in A Good Woman, and April Epner in Then She Found Me. One of the many joys in running the site have been in the networks I have made. I have made lasting friendships with diverse people from the United States, U.K., Norway, Colombia, Australia, and Mexico. I love them all!
Outside of this web site, I am a student at the University of Idaho. In 2009 I will receive a B.S. in Child, Family & Consumer Studies - Family Life option with a minor in Aging Studies. You can visit my personal web site at http://jacobtheo.org.
Mad About Helen (helenhunt.org) started in April of 2000 as a very small fan page and quickly grew into a comprehensive multi-page fan collection. I registered the first domain name madabouthelen.com (no longer active) in late 2001 and helenhunt.org in late 2002. The site is the oldest Helen Hunt fan project on the web, and receives thousands of unique visitors per month.
Due to a change of philosophy in 2005, the site reduced its content to focus on quality, not quantity and focused strictly on Hunt’s career. In 2008, the site sported a new identity and easier-to-read layout with a magazine style to capture the changing news as Hunt’s directorial debut hits theaters. This represents the biggest change in site design yet.
Mad About Helen provides accurate, up-to-date information on the career of Helen Hunt, which includes, but is not limited to, her work in film, television, and theater, news, and organizations she supports. It is here to preserve this information. Specifically, the site archives news articles dating from 1996 onward in an online database.
